One thing actor John Peasah says he keeps searching for is a treatment that will finally improve his condition, and according to him, that journey has taken him to about 12 different hospitals.
Speaking on Onua Showtime, the actor, popularly known as Drogba from the television series YOLO, opened up about living with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder.
John said he believes his health problems started after an incident at home while he was carrying something.
“I was carrying something in my house when I suddenly heard a sound in my back. I believe that incident is what caused my condition, but the doctors say otherwise,” he said.
According to him, doctors later diagnosed him with Stiff Person Syndrome, the same condition that affected international singer Celine Dion.
John explained that his search for treatment has taken him to about 12 hospitals, but he is yet to experience the recovery he has been hoping for.
“I have visited about 12 hospitals for a cure, and each time, they conduct tests and run diagnoses. They prescribe so many medications that after taking all of them, I feel full. So when food is served, I am unable to eat because I already feel satisfied,” he said.
The actor also disclosed that the condition has kept him largely indoors for the past six years because of the pain and physical limitations it causes.
Despite everything, John said his biggest wish is to regain his health and return to a normal life.
He is currently seeking financial support to undergo specialised medical treatment abroad.
