So, the latest ministerial reshuffle from President John Dramani Mahama has brought a familiar name back into the conversation, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.

The President has nominated the Klottey Korle MP as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation as part of changes affecting some key ministries.

Now, this one has generated a lot of talk as many Ghanaians have often mentioned Zanetor whenever discussions come up about who should lead the Defence Ministry.

Some people have argued that her background makes her a natural fit for that portfolio, especially because she is the daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, who was a military officer before entering politics.

But in this reshuffle, President Mahama has assigned her to the Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry instead.

The changes also saw Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, who previously served as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, moved to head the Ministry of Defence.

Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, has been reassigned from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to take over the Works, Housing and Water Resources portfolio.

Mahama Ayariga has also been nominated as the new Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The Presidency said the changes have been communicated to Parliament through the Speaker, following the requirements of Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, with the nominees expected to go through parliamentary approval.
