A grieving family is calling for justice following the death of a 19-year-old teenager who was allegedly killed during unrest in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

According to a social media post shared by a woman identified as Nonhlanhla Sambo, the victim, identified as Nhlamulo, was fatally stabbed on 31 May amid protests and tensions that she described as xenophobic violence. The family claims that the teenager was targeted because he was Tsonga and living in a predominantly Xhosa community.

In the emotional post, Sambo expressed the family’s heartbreak and condemned the killing as an inhumane act. She stated that the family would continue to seek accountability and ensure that the matter is not forgotten.

Photos shared alongside the post show the young man in various moments of his life, including outings with friends and family, highlighting the personal loss behind the tragedy.

Leaders of Operation Dudula have debunked the claims, labelling them as fake news. However, anger continues to grow as police investigate the incident.

Mother of the young man has addressed the public, seeking financial support to transport her son’s remains to be buried. According to her, she is unemployed and cannot afford the cost of burial.
