The Tyla-Lagos conversation isn’t cooling down anytime soon. Now, one post from a South African X user has reinforced the rivalry between social media users from both countries.
Posting on X, the user identified as @Abahambekr said Nigerians should leave South Africa if Tyla’s planned Lagos performance does not happen.
“If that happens, we want each and every Nigerian gone with immediate effect,” the post read.
The user went on to claim there are more than 500,000 Nigerians living in South Africa and called for all of them to leave, accusing some Nigerians of entering the country illegally, selling dr+gs and operating businesses meant for South Africans.
“We will make sure there is no Nigerian in our country if Tyla’s show gets cancelled for any reason, and we will see who will cry on social media. We are done being nice and diplomatic,” the user added.
The comments come after Tyla removed Lagos from the list of cities on her upcoming world tour.
Earlier in the week, the Grammy-winning singer had announced plans to perform in Lagos, a concert that would have marked her first headline show in Nigeria.
However, the announcement drew cr!ticism from some Nigerians, who questioned her silence over xenophobic incidents involving Nigerians in South Africa.
The backlash followed reports of anti-migrant vi+lence, including the reported d3ath of Nigerian national Chika Ibe in Cape Town.
