Circular alfalfa fields create a striking oasis against the golden sands on the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert in Kunyu City, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Powered by center-pivot water-saving irrigation, the once-shifting dunes have been transformed into productive forage farmland.

As local authorities continue expanding desert restoration efforts, deep-rooted alfalfa helps stabilize the soil while supporting a complete “cooperative + enterprise” supply chain for cultivation, processing and sales.

The project promotes ecological recovery, secures livestock feed supplies and creates sustainable income opportunities for local communities.
