“South African Youths Seen Celebrating After Foreign Nationals Were Forced to Leave.

A video circulating online shows some South African youth celebrating following the departure of foreign nationals from their communities amid ongoing xenophobic attacks.

The celebrations come after weeks of anti-foreigner demonstrations in which many South Africans accused Black foreign nationals of taking jobs and opportunities meant for locals.

Some have claimed that the presence of foreigners has made South African youth “lazy,” a sentiment that has fueled tensions across the country.

In the video, the youth are seen singing and dancing, seemingly in response to the departure of foreign nationals who have either fled or been evacuated, including hundreds of Ghanaians who returned home with government support.

While the scenes have been met with approval by some locally, many across the continent have condemned the xenophobic attacks and called for African unity.
