The Presidency has directed government appointees to refrain from accepting “best performance” awards from private organisations whose evaluation criteria are unclear, unverified or lacking in transparency.
In a statement, the Presidency emphasised the need for public officials to exercise caution when engaging with award schemes that claim to assess the performance of ministers, chief executives and other government appointees without credible and measurable standards.


The directive comes amid growing public scrutiny of award programmes that recognise public office holders, with concerns being raised about the methodologies used to determine winners and the legitimacy of some organisers.
The Presidency has issued a statement cautioning ministers, CEOs of state institutions, and other political appointees to refrain from participating in or accepting awards from private organisations, some of which are little known to the public and lack clear transparency.
