Broadcast journalist Paul Adom-Otchere has called for an investigation into Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene over allegations that he used state resources to fly his wife to the United States to give birth.
Speaking on his *Good Evening Ghana* show, Adom-Otchere questioned how the minister and his wife, a public servant, could afford a trip costing an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 on their government salaries.
“If I were NDC, I would query him. Both of you work in the same hospital.
You are a regional minister. You don’t seem to have political maturity,” he said.
He alleged that the minister’s wife was flown to America to deliver the child so the child could obtain a US passport.
“You take taxpayers’ money and go to America to have a baby, while the taxpayer who is paying cannot afford to go to America,” he claimed.
Adom-Otchere added that Amoakohene is “robbing Ghanaians” and failing to protect the image of President Mahama and
Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
No evidence has been provided to support the allegations, and the minister has not yet publicly responded.
