President John Dramani Mahama’s “One Million Coders” initiative recorded strong early interest in Nkoranza North, with over 66 applicants already registered ahead of the launch.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Patrick “Patoo”, officially opened and handed over the new One Million Coders Program Center this week.
The facility marks a key step toward equipping young Ghanaians with practical coding and digital skills.
The program, run by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, aims to drive digital innovation and expand tech skills nationwide.
“This center’s mandate is to drive digital education in our district,” Hon. Effah Patrick said. “By equipping students, apprentices, and employers with cutting-edge tech skills, we are building local and national workforce capacity.”

The purpose-built facility will deliver hands-on training in modern technologies and sustainable practices, ensuring both learners and employers get the skills needed for today’s job market.
The center was opened alongside Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, who played a key role in bringing the project to the district, as well as the Mmerantehene and other traditional leaders in Busunya.
Hon. Effah Patrick added: “This is another way people here can get the technological skills they need to earn a better living and build a better life. The center looks amazing, and it is an honor to officially open it.”
Hon. Eric Amoako, Assemblyman for Busunya and Mmerantehene of Busunya Traditional Area, also welcomed the launch.
“The ‘born before computer’ era is over,” he said. “Most of the talent we need is already in our community. What we need now is to inspire them, develop their skills, and connect them to opportunity.”
