President John Dramani Mahama has announced a fresh package of interventions aimed at transforming Zongo communities across the country, promising improved roads, better schools, expanded healthcare access and new economic opportunities for residents.

Addressing thousands of Muslim faithful during the National Eid al-Adha celebration at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday, 27 May, the President said his administration is prioritising the development of deprived urban communities, particularly Zongos, as part of a broader national inclusion agenda.

Mahama disclosed that government is preparing to roll out major infrastructure projects in several Zongo enclaves, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainage systems.

“I’m particularly pleased with the progress we are making with development initiatives in our Zongo communities,” he said.

According to the President, the interventions are intended to tackle long-standing challenges confronting many Zongo settlements, especially poor sanitation, inadequate social infrastructure and limited economic opportunities.
