Hundreds of homes in Weija have reportedly been submerged following a controlled spillage from the Weija Dam by the Ghana Water Company Limited.
The spillage was carried out after continuous rainfall caused rising water levels at the dam, prompting authorities to release excess water as a precautionary measure.
The flooding has left many residents displaced and stranded, with several affected communities experiencing significant property damage as water levels rapidly rose.
Videos and images circulating online showed submerged houses, flooded streets and residents attempting to salvage belongings from their homes.
The development has reignited concerns about flooding in low-lying communities around the Weija area, especially during periods of heavy rainfall and dam spillage operations.
Residents are calling for urgent support and intervention as affected families continue to deal with the aftermath of the flooding.
